The boat ramp at Tench
Reserve in Jamisontown received a major upgrade back in 2019, transforming it
into a premier spot for boating enthusiasts. Now featuring a new three-lane
boat ramp, 34 additional car and trailer parking spaces, dedicated car-only parking,
stylish jetties, improved access roads, new footpaths, secure fencing,
beautiful landscaping, and solar lighting, it's never been easier to launch
your adventures on the Nepean River.
Locals absolutely
adore this serene riverside gem. It’s not just for boaters; it’s a peaceful
haven for anyone looking to enjoy a leisurely stroll, take a refreshing swim,
or have a delightful picnic with family and friends. Kids can enjoy the
playground installed in the reserve as well, making it an ideal outing for the
whole family.
However, while the new
lighting around the ramp brings some illumination, it can still be a bit dim
after dark, which may pose a slight challenge when navigating the area. Plus,
the parking lot is a bit of a trek from the ramp, so it’s wise to plan ahead
for how you'll maneuver your trailer and boat from one to the other.
Keep in mind that the
ramp (and the entire reserve) operates from 5 am to 9 pm from October to March,
and from 6 am to 8 pm from April to September. Planning your visit accordingly
will help you avoid any last-minute rushes or surprises from security at closing
time!
