The Tinderbox Boat
Ramp, nestled within the stunning Tinderbox Marine Reserve, is a single-lane
concrete ramp with an adjacent jetty. Since it’s located in a fully protected
no-take reserve, fishing of any kind is strictly off-limits; so if you're
planning to cast a line, this isn’t the spot for you.
While the ramp
provides easy water access, it’s exposed to southerly weather and can be tricky
to use at low tide. Be sure to check tide charts and weather forecasts before
heading out. Parking is convenient, with plenty of spots available, and just
beside the car park, you'll find a toilet block, a kids' playground, picnic
areas, and a sheltered BBQ; perfect for a relaxed day by the water.
Tinderbox Marine
Reserve is a favorite among visitors, offering plenty of ways to enjoy its
natural beauty. You can explore the rocky ledges, go for a swim, snorkel,
kayak, or even scuba dive. The marine life here is incredible, and since
conservation is key, boaters need to be mindful of where they drop anchor;
stick to sandy areas to avoid damaging the delicate seagrass beds and sponge
gardens.
Beyond the underwater
wonders, Tinderbox is also a prime spot for a breathtaking natural spectacle.
During the winter months, visitors flock here to witness the mesmerising Aurora
Australis (Southern Lights), painting the night sky with brilliant colours of
red, green, and violet. Whether you’re there for the marine life, the scenery,
or the incredible light show, Tinderbox is a special place worth exploring!
