Trevallyn Dam Boat Ramp, Lake Trevallyn

The Trevallyn Dam Boat Ramp, located on Lake Trevallyn in the residential locality of Trevallyn, spanning parts of Launceston and West Tamar, features a single-lane concrete ramp with an adjacent jetty. While lake levels here can vary, the ramp provides reliable access to the lake. It’s a solid little launch spot, though the incline may be a bit steep for those towing with a 2WD. That said, the concrete surface offers good traction.

There’s no parking immediately next to the ramp itself, but a small car park is available just uphill. The surrounding area forms part of the Trevallyn Nature Recreation Area, which protects dry open grassy forests and woodland, along with rich aquatic and riverside habitats that support a diverse range of native plant life.

The setting is peaceful and well-maintained, which is ideal for a quiet picnic. There’s plenty of space to spread out, and the reserve offers more than just lake access. Visitors can enjoy walking and mountain biking trails, horse riding, rock climbing, orienteering, archery, and dog walking.

In the warmer months, Lake Trevallyn becomes a hub for water-based recreation, including swimming, canoeing, and water skiing.

Facilities include an accessible toilet, picnic tables (both sheltered and open), and a wood-fired barbecue area, making it a comfortable and family-friendly spot for a day out.
