The Wallaroo Boat
Ramp, located on the western side of Yorke Peninsula, features a convenient
four-lane boat launching facility with two jetties, providing excellent road
access and ample parking. The ramp allows easy access to the water, although it
can be slippery at times.
On the north side of
the jetty, you'll find Office Beach, which is approximately 150 meters long.
This small beach is nestled between the jetty seawall and a large parking area.
It's backed by a stepped seawall and a caravan park, while in front, there are
200 meters of wide sand flats.
The Caravan Park
Beach, Main Wallaroo Bay, and North Beach are the most accessible and popular
spots, all of which require high tide for the water to cover the sand flats. To
ensure safe swimming at all tides, a swimming enclosure is located out on the jetty.
Fishermen can enjoy good catches from the jetty, particularly during high tide.
The car park offers
direct access to the boat ramp, which is adjacent to a small 100-meter-long
beach featuring shade shelters. This area is popular with campers from the
caravan park.
Boaters, swimmers, and
kayakers should exercise caution while navigating the waters in this area, as
dolphins frequently visit the vicinity. There is an $8 fee to use the ramp.
Overall, Wallaroo
provides excellent beachfront camping and caravan facilities, along with a
variety of low-energy, relatively safe beaches.
