Located at the northern end of Lake Somerset along Westvale Road, this public boat ramp provides a simple single-lane concrete launch point into the lake’s calm waters. It sits on the northern arm of the dam and is generally regarded as a quiet and scenic spot for getting out on the water.
The ramp itself is functional, though conditions can vary depending on water levels; most of the time, it does not quite reach the waterline due to reduced dam levels, which can make launching more difficult. Parking is also quite limited, with no formal sealed area available, so vehicles are typically left on nearby grassy spaces.
Despite these limitations, the location remains popular for boating and water-based activities. Motorised boats and paddle craft are both permitted, provided they adhere to the 6-knot speed limit across this section of the lake. Fishing is also a drawcard here, though a valid permit is required.
Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities, including fishing, picnicking, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, stand-up paddleboarding, and electric boating. Swimming, however, is not permitted.
