The Wymston Parade Boat Ramp, tucked away in Wareemba in Sydney’s Inner West, is a small single-lane concrete ramp that provides direct access to the Parramatta River. It’s a quiet spot, making it handy for launching a fishing kayak without much fuss, though timing your trip with the tide is important. At low tide, you may find yourself hauling your kayak across 20 metres of shallow water, and there’s a noticeable drop-off at the end of the ramp, so high tide launches are best.
Parking is limited, with no dedicated spaces nearby. Most visitors simply leave their vehicle and trailer along the roadside. Facilities are minimal, with only a couple of rubbish bins and benches along the riverbank.
What the ramp lacks in convenience, it makes up for in setting. The area is peaceful, with good walking and cycling paths, water views, and local shops within easy reach. It’s also a beautiful spot to watch the sun go down, with some of Sydney’s best sunsets reflected across the river. Whether you’re here to launch a kayak, enjoy a quiet stroll, or simply relax by the water, Wymston Parade offers a simple but scenic escape.
