Chifley Dam is located
in Lagoon, Bathurst and hosts a perfect location for a quiet weekend getaway
alone or with a partner or a fantastic fun holiday for the family.
The main boat ramp is
made of concrete and is easy to access by most boats, although it can be
shallow at times. Chifley Dam is open for all water activities including
sailing, cruising, fishing, and water skiing. The water is monitored regularly
to ensure that it is fit for use. Anglers can enjoy dropping a line and catching
native species in these waters. The dam is Bathurst's water supply and
recreation area.
Other facilities you
can find in Chiefly Dam are BBQ spots, fish cleaning tables, litter bins, and toilets.
Camping is another popular
activity in the Dam. There are primitive camping areas, which are free to use and
the maximum length of time you can stay is three nights. If you prefer a more comfortable
stay, there are cabins with kitchen and bathroom facilities which can house a
group of people.
Be aware that pets are
not allowed to be brought inside the dam and no fire should be lit at all
times.
There are around 50 spaces
for cars and trailers to park. Chifley Dam is open and free to use for everyone.
The main boat ramp will be open at 7:30 am and be closed at 9 pm during daylight
savings months and 6 pm during the winter season.
