The Cowes Boat Ramp, tucked at the end of Anderson Road on the southern side of Western Port Bay, is a popular spot for launching boats into the bay and beyond. Recently upgraded, the ramp now extends 15 metres further into the water and is raised by a metre, giving boaters better access across a wider range of tides and reducing sand build-up.

The ramp works best for small vessels during medium to high tides, so it’s worth timing your visit to match the tide and your boat’s draught. The sheltered location also makes it easier to get your boat in and out if the weather changes.
The parking area is massive; there are plenty of parking spaces for cars and trailers.
Beyond boating, the site offers scenic views, a quiet beach ideal for walks, and plenty of wildlife, including pelicans, and sometimes even whales. Facilities are convenient, with a nearby café, public toilets, and easy in-and-out access. Best of all, as a Victorian facility, the Cowes Boat Ramp is free to use.
