This concrete boat
ramp is a popular boat launching destination on the southern side of Western
Port Bay. Recently renovated, the brand-new ramp surface is extended 15 metres deeper
into the water to provide access at a greater range of tides and raised one
metre higher to reduce sand build-up.
Other improvements include:
- Ramps on the side to
assist with vehicle and pedestrian beach access during sand erosion.
- Raised the existing jetty
to improve access at a greater range of tides and extending it to 20 metres to improve
berthing capacity.
- Installed live cameras
that boaters can check its conditions through the Better Boating Victoria app before
heading down to the ramp.
This boat ramp is suitable
for small vessels during medium to high tides only. When using the boat ramp,
boaters are reminded to consider the timing of tides and how it may affect the
draught of vessels.
As it is in Victoria,
the Cowes boat ramp facilities are free.
