Dry Dock Road Boat Ramp, Tweed Heads South

The Dry Dock Road Boat Ramp, located beneath the M1 at Tweed Heads South, provides convenient access to Terranora Creek and is a reliable launch point for a day on the Tweed waterways. The facility includes a two-lane concrete ramp and a small adjoining wharf, which is useful for loading and unloading, particularly for pontoons, or for fishing if you’re not launching a boat.  At high tide, the dock is essential for access as there is limited space to beach a boat. To the left of the ramp, there’s a small sandy area reinforced with sandbags, and overall the layout provides good manoeuvring space.

The ramp is generally easy to use, although it can become slippery during low tide conditions, so extra care is recommended. It’s also worth noting that the site closes at 4:15 pm, so planning an earlier launch and return is advisable.

The area itself has been nicely renovated and offers ample parking, with plenty of room for vehicles and trailers.

Facilities are convenient, with clean public toilets located across the road, along with nearby shops including a grocer, bottle shop, café, and other food options. There’s also a caravan park and village directly opposite, making it a practical base for visitors staying in the area.

Beyond boating, it’s a pleasant place to spend time. The river is often dotted with pelicans, and there’s ample seating and shaded areas to relax and enjoy the breeze. Whether you’re heading out on the water or simply stopping for lunch, it’s a comfortable and family-friendly location well suited to a relaxed day by the creek.
