The Geelong Limeburners Point Boat Ramp has recently undergone significant upgrades to address growing demand and improve overall functionality. As one of the busiest launch sites in Geelong, its popularity comes from convenient access to Corio Bay and the western side of Port Phillip, both well-known for productive fishing grounds and a wide variety of species.
The redevelopment has increased the number of ramps from three to five, helping streamline launching and retrieval, particularly during peak periods. New pontoons have been installed to provide additional berthing space, and the offshore breakwall has been rebuilt and extended to offer improved protection in less favourable weather.
Parking capacity has also been substantially expanded, with 56 dedicated car and trailer bays now available, along with 11 single vehicle spaces, including two accessible parks. The carpark is large and well laid out, catering not only to vehicles with trailers but also to larger vehicles such as buses.
As of March 2026, Better Boating Victoria, in partnership with the City of Greater Geelong and local boating groups, is progressing Stage 2 of the upgrade. This next phase is focused on further enhancing wave protection, particularly during northerly and north-westerly conditions, to improve safety and usability of both the ramp and harbour.
Facilities at Limeburners Point are comprehensive and free to use. Amenities include public toilets, covered fish cleaning stations, and dedicated bins for discarded fishing line. Beyond boating, the area is also a pleasant place to spend time, offering expansive water views and plenty of space for a long walk, including with dogs on lead.
Overall, the upgrades have reinforced Limeburners Point’s status as a key boating hub in the Geelong region, providing improved access, safety, and convenience for recreational users.
