The Mornington Fisherman’s Beach boat ramp, situated at Fisherman’s Beach on the Esplanade at the base of Linley Point Lookout, offers a 2-lane concrete ramp launching into Fishermans Bay. Be aware that at low tide the water doesn’t reach the ramp, making it tricky to use for inexperienced boaters. There’s no jetty, so extra caution is needed, particularly for trailerable boats in rough conditions.
Some users recommend a 4x4 for launching boats or PWCs, as summer sand in front of the ramp can get soft, leaving sedans at risk of getting bogged. The ramp can get quite busy during spring and summer, with car parks filling up quickly and public parking sometimes spilling into boat spaces.
Despite these challenges, the beach itself is a gem. It’s perfect for walks, swimming, boating, dolphin spotting, or simply enjoying sunrise and sunset views. Between the road and the beach, a narrow foreshore reserve runs along a seawall at the base of the bluffs, dotted with a few boat sheds. There’s also a convenient public toilet block in the parking area a few metres from the ramp, making it a practical spot for a day by the water.
