The Port MacDonnell
Boat Ramp features a well-maintained, four-lane concrete ramp that is sheltered
and equipped with two floating concrete pontoons, as well as a wharf suitable
for larger and heavier vessels.
Major dredging work
was undertaken from late March 2022 and completed in August 2022. This project
aimed to enhance safety and improve access to the harbour, boat ramp, and
mooring grounds for boaters. The sand extracted from the harbour entrance was
used to replenish the sandy beaches located east of the harbour area.
Additionally, the dredging supports local businesses and the fishing industry
by enhancing productivity.
The boat ramp charges
a daily fee of $5.50 and offers a weekly permit for $27.50.
Ample parking is
available, allowing boaters to park their cars and trailers with ease. Nearby,
there is a large grassy park adjacent to the ramp access road, along with
fuelling stations, public toilets, and a playground, all within walking
distance of each other.
