Located at the mouth of Merriman Creek in Seaspray, Victoria, this single-lane boat ramp sits within the calm creek estuary where the river meets Ninety Mile Beach. While the ramp can be a little difficult to use and is generally more accessible at high tide, it does provide suitable launching for small boats in the gently sloping sandy area.
The estuary itself is well suited to a range of water activities, including boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, rowing, jet-skiing, surfing, and fishing. The sandy banks and shallow waters make it particularly appealing for families, offering a relaxed setting where both children and adults can enjoy time on the water. Visitors should be aware that algae can be present in the creek at times.
Facilities around the reserve are generous. There is ample parking, large grassed areas, picnic tables, a wooden shelter, public toilets, and a fishing platform close to the ramp. Barbecues, pavilions, and rubbish bins are also provided, making it an ideal location for a picnic along the estuary banks. The area offers direct access to the beach and nearby walking trails, and it is within easy walking distance of the shoreline.
The setting is generally peaceful, with some protection from southerly winds, making it a pleasant place to spend a few hours. It’s particularly suitable for families with younger children, though insect repellent is recommended, as sandflies and mosquitoes can be persistent.
