Thiele Reserve in Murray Bridge East is a
fantastic spot for a fun-filled day with family and friends. The wide, two-lane
concrete boat ramp makes it easy to launch small to medium-sized boats into the
Murray River, though it can be prone to flooding at times.
The waters here are a hotspot for
watersports, so don’t be surprised to see speedboats, waterskiers, tubers, and
jet skis zipping around. If you prefer a more relaxed pace, leisurely river
cruises are also popular, and houseboat mooring is available nearby. Fishing is
another common activity, but some anglers say the fish aren’t always biting in
this area.
Beyond the boat ramp, Thiele Reserve has
everything you need for a great day out—a wide grassy area, barbecue stations, picnic tables,
benches, a playground for the kids, and toilet facilities. Parking is
hassle-free, with plenty of space, even for both cars and trailers.
Keep in mind that camping and open fires
are not allowed, so it’s strictly a day-use-only spot. Pets are welcome, but if
you’re bringing your dog along, make sure it stays on a leash at all times.
