This 5-lane concrete
ramp, with two side floating docks, is located at the southern end of Tingira
Street in Portsmith and gives direct access to Chinaman Creek. It is suitable
for launching boats at any tide, although tidal currents in the inlet can
occasionally be quite strong. The floating pontoon makes it easy to manage
launches if you’re alone. This ramp is ideal for larger boats, offering
excellent access, plenty of space, and deep water regardless of the tide.
You can tie your boat
to the pontoon before removing your car and trailer from the ramp. Garbage bins
and lighting are provided, along with ample parking for trailer boats. Washdown
facilities are conveniently located near the ramp in the rigging and de-rigging
areas. There is also a wheelchair-accessible toilet block available nearby.
Additionally, this
spot is a great place to sit and fish. Just be sure to bring your own chairs
and keep an eye out for boats passing by.
