The Tuckeroo boat ramp is an excellent
location for parking and launching boats. This concrete ramp provides access to
Mud Island and the surrounding estuary. Access to Moreton Bay is good starting
from a quarter tide upward, although the waterway becomes very shallow at low
tide. There are four non-slip ramps and a pontoon, allowing for the unloading
and loading of up to three boats simultaneously during low tide. For larger
boats, it's best to check the water depth at low tide to ensure safe access.
The pontoon is particularly advantageous for solo boaters, as it allows them to
tie up their boat, park their car, and secure their trailer with ease.
The ramp is cleaned regularly and is not
slippery.
This location offers more than just a
launching ramp; it features several picnic shelters, BBQ stations, fish cleaning
stations, ample parking, and a toilet block. The rock retaining walls at the
water's edge also provide opportunities for land-based fishing for anglers who
don't have boats. You can also find a variety of bird species in the area. This
area is also popular with jet skiers as well.
