Walkers Point Boat
Ramp sits at the intersection of Walkers Point Road and Manley Smith Drive in
Woodgate, offering a wide two-lane concrete ramp with all-tide access. It’s
also a solid spot for night fishing. The gentle slope makes launching easy, but
on windy days with a strong tide or choppy conditions, some boaters might find
launching here a bit tricky. Take note that one side of the ramp is slightly
higher than the other, but as long as you stick to one lane, it’s not a big
deal.
From here, you can
head out onto the Isis River, venture into the open ocean, or explore the
Gregory Islands for some inshore adventure.
The ramp is surrounded
by a beautiful sandy beach, perfect for walking, sunbathing, swimming, or just
wading along the shore. Nearby, you’ll find toilets, rubbish bins, and a picnic
area, plus a spacious parking lot for cars and trailers. There’s also a dedicated
picnic park and a hiking trail just a few metres away for those who want to
stretch their legs or walk their dogs.
Since 2017, the
Queensland government has had plans to renovate this ramp, including expanding
the parking area to 45 car-and-trailer spaces and adding a breakwater and
floating walkway to improve safety and reduce tidal impacts. However, as of
now, there haven’t been any updates on when these upgrades will happen.
