It’s a beautiful day and the sun is shining. The water is
crystal clear, the tide is perfect, and instead of hopping in your Quintrex
boat, you want to try something different. Something more daring. Maybe you
want to try… jet skiing on Sea-Doo
Wake Pro. You missed riding the jet-ski and playing with the waves. Not
only that, you want to try some new tricks. If you are tired of just taking a
leisurely spin around the lake maybe time to add some new tricks under your
sleeve.
Jet ski tricks can make the experience more fun and
exciting, but before you embark on your ride, you will have to take your time
and learn to perfect these cool tricks. It is certainly worth practising and
feeling comfortable on the jet ski first before attempting any of these.
Without further ado, let’s look at these fun and exciting
jet ski tricks you should try:
Relax and Sit Forward
If you decide to sit instead of doing any cool tricks
because you just learned how to jet ski properly, keep your body relaxed and
lean slightly forward. This will reduce soreness and muscle strain later on.
And when your jet ski lifts off the water, lift your body off the seat slightly
so that you’re bottom and your back is not jarred upon impact.
Standing Up
Using your legs to steer and absorb shock waves from the
water will help you gain more control over your jet ski. Place your feet
slightly behind your shoulders with your knees bent to do this. However, if you
don’t feel comfortable standing up, don’t do it, and always make sure your feet
are steady.
Jumping A Wake
With this trick, you will fly straight over the wake as
opposed to riding up and down. It is one of the simplest and most picturesque
tricks you may want to try. To perform this, you will have to use a lot of
speed to jump a wake. You have to head to the wake at full speed again and use
the first wave that you hit to lift you and move you forward.
You can either use the waves in the ocean to jump or create
your wake and then jump it. Leaning a bit back when you hit the wake can help
you get the jet ski far up in the air, and when you’re landing back to the
water, loosen up yourself to avoid injuries.
Surface 180
This trick is effortless and only requires a lot of speed.
All you need to do is turn the handlebars from one direction to the other while
maintaining full speed. A surface 180 trick begins in a stopped position with
the handlebars turned to one side. Lean your body in the direction you want to
go. And when it’s time to perform the trick, you have to speed up and turn the
handlebars in the opposite direction. This combination of the turn and the
speed can make you do a pretty cool spin.
Doughnut
Almost similar to doing a doughnut in a car, this is another
simple and favourite jet ski trick. A doughnut can be done while sitting or
standing, but if you get dizzy easily, this may not be for you. To do this
trick you only need to rotate the jet ski and lean in one direction
continuously while turning the craft throttle, which is just turning in
circles. It takes some specific control of your hands and feet, but other than
that it is not difficult.
Carving
This is a trick that carves a path in the water. To carve,
you have to turn the handlebars in the direction you wish to go and lean your
entire body in that direction.
Make sure not to lean too much or else you fall or tip the
jet ski over, but just enough to naturally follow the curve of the jet ski.
After turning as per your need, ease the handlebars back into their neutral
forward position and re-engage the throttle. Although it may look like a simple
trick, it’s very versatile and can be experimented with as you wish by adding
speed and variations to movements.
Now that you have a good idea of the different tricks to try
on your jet ski, it is good to consider if this is a safe thing for you to
execute. If you are brand new to jet skiing, you are going to want to master
basic maneuvers before you start trying to do tricks. However, if you’ve been
jet skiing for years, these tricks are all chicken to you. Slowly start on the
easiest tricks then work your way up to more difficult tricks. Make sure you
have a friend or a spotter nearby in case you get injured while doing these
different tricks. Always wear a life jacket. Wearing one can always keep you
safe in case you get caught up in accidents. You can purchase life jackets for
water sports in marine
shops. Make sure you also have a wide space to do your tricks. Avoid doing
them when boats and people are swimming nearby.
