Essentially tubing was invented accidentally and like all things that came out of an honest mistake, it caught on and before long, it has become massively popular and is not something plenty of people want to do as soon as the summer sun comes out. It’s one of the most relaxing things you can do in the water and gives you the freedom to do whatever you want while enjoying the unique setting of the water. While this activity sounds incredibly enjoyable and relaxing and something everyone of all ages can do easily, there are still some things you will need to do to prepare before you embark on this adventure.

Different Ways of Tubing

When it comes to tubing, there are two unique ways of doing this which are not similar by any means, and depending on which one you choose, you might have a very different experience.

The first method is towed tubing. This is when the tube is connected to a watercraft which is motorized, this method is occasionally referred to as boating as well. You will need to hold on tight to the tube and you will be carried along by the watercraft.

An exciting and fun activity, it is perfect if you want a bit more adventure involved with tubing. This method will need more space though due to the watercraft such as a Camero Legend boat carrying you, go find a vast lake or try tubing adventures at sea.

To Buy or To Rent?

If you’ve never done tubing before, we’re going to assume that you don’t have any tubing equipment prepared. Lucky for you, we’ll be able to help you out on what factors to consider first to help you figure out if you will buy or rent one.

If it’s your first time tubing and you’re not so sure how much you enjoy it, we suggest you not purchase any tubing equipment yet. You need to see if you enjoy the activity or not. It’ll be a waste of your hard-earned dollars if you realise that tubing is not for you.

Renting is very risky and will save you a lot of money your first time. Depending on the conditions you’re tubing in, you may need to rent a life jacket and a helmet but these are more intended for tow tubing than free float. If you want to buy stuff for tubing adventures, you can easily find them in marine shops.

If you ever purchased your own tube and you want to test it out, make sure you bring something which is good for inflating it quickly such as a portable electric pump or a foot pump.

Tubing Methods You Need To Know

When you are tow tubing, you will likely not have to worry about much since you will taken everywhere you need to go and most of the safety instructions will be given directly to you. However, with free-floating, there is more to consider, especially if you only rented a tube. If this is the case, you will want to plan where you’re tubing and then consider how simple it will be for you to return to your original destination.

Try to avoid any sharp objects or glass as these will easily puncture your tube and if you’re renting you could end up with a hefty fine.  Depending on where you’re tubing, ensure that the water quality is good as you will be spending a lot of time in it. You don’t want to be tubing in murky waters!
