Is your Quintrex
boat or Northbank
boat or Yellowfin
boat covered in a vinyl wrap with the coolest graphics? Wrapping your boat
is a brilliant way to protect your boat’s exterior and modernise its look. To
keep your vinyl wrap in pristine condition and make it last a long time, you
need to take some precautions. Here are a few tips and tricks on how to care
for your vinyl boat wrap:
Wash Your Boat Regularly
Cleaning is the simplest, yet most effective way to keep
your vinyl boat wrap looking its best. Cleaning your vinyl wrap regularly and
properly will make it last much longer. Without proper maintenance, the boat
wrap may disintegrate over time.
The best way to clean your vinyl boat wrap is by rinsing it
by hand using non-abrasive detergents. After the rinsing process is complete,
use a silicone squeegee to get rid of excess water. Dry the surface with a
microfiber cloth. This last step is vital because it will help prevent water
spots from forming. You
Be Gentle
When cleaning your boat, instead of using abrasive products,
opt for a mild soap and a soft cloth. Similarly, it’s best to avoid using
high-pressure washers or hard brushes to clean custom fishing boat wraps, as
this can cause discolouration and scratching, and may even lift the edges of
the wrap.
Avoid using stiff or hard brushes when scrubbing your vinyl
boat wraps. These types of brushes can damage the vinyl film, or cause the
edges to lift and tear. Prolonged use of hard, abrasive brushes can also dull
the film’s appearance.
When it comes to cleaning your vinyl boat wrap, also avoid
using harsh cleaning agents such as acetone or bleach. These sorts of cleaning
agents can seriously damage vinyl wraps and sometimes even your boat’s hull.
Use Polish
Don’t forget to polish the vinyl. Use a trusted polish that
contains UV ray protection to guarantee an extra layer of defence from the sun
and salt water. Polish is a better way to apply to your wrap compared to wax
since some wax products are harmful to vinyl and can tarnish it.
Don’t Wash Immediately After Wrapping
If you’ve just wrapped your boat, don’t wash it immediately.
Wait at least a week after the wrap has been applied to your boat before you give
them a complete washing. It’s important to give your wrap enough time to adhere
to the hull before you put it under any stress.
Store Under Cover
Always store your boat undercover. Prolonged exposure to the
sun and natural elements can cause damage to your boat’s vinyl wrap and
eventually to the boat itself. Rain exposure can also seriously damage vinyl
wraps, especially if there is an acidic component in the rain.
Do not fasten your boat cover tightly without adding a layer
of cloth, or soft material, between the graphics and boat cover. Metals
incorporated into your cover, such as buckles, can cause unwanted abrasions to
your wrap.
Take Extra Precautions in Transporting Your Wrapped Boat
When you transport or haul your boat into or out of the
water on a boat trailer (such as a Quintrex
trailer, for example), you’ll want to make sure that you’re protecting it
from damage. To do so, add a protective layer between the lifts and wraps so
that you don’t damage the graphics.
Caring for your vinyl wrapping will ensure you get the most
out of your investment and save you a whole lot of money in the long run.
Maintaining the wrap’s condition will ensure that your boat will last for
decades.
