Sometimes the best family outdoor memories can be made within just a few miles of home. There are plenty of ways you can plan a camping and fishing staycation without having to go to a place miles away from home.

If you’re thinking of hitting your local lake or a nearby sea to fish your stress away this weekend, take this as a sign to go for it. But before you do, make sure to do the following things below to make sure your trip is safe and filled with great adventures:

Look for the Best Location for Your Fishing Excursion

Check out your local parks (and even the national parks) in your area where they allow fishing and camping through the internet or by visiting your local parks and leisure office. You will be able to obtain the information you need that will help finalise your plans for your trip.

You can also ask your friends, family, or neighbours about local fish campgrounds they may have visited near your area. You can also ask for advice from anglers. They know the best spots for fishing and camping.

Prepare a Camping Tent

You need to arrange shelter at the campground. The most important thing is your tent. Get a sturdy tent for your camp. The tent should be big enough to accommodate everyone. They should be able to move freely in it instead of being squashed like sardines in a can. Practice the mounting process at home before going on the trip. Don’t forget to also bring some sleeping bags and blankets.

Plan Your Meals

Food is one of the most important things you need to pack for a camping and fishing trip. The trip will simply be a disaster without food. When planning your food, it’s best to bring abundant food so you don’t experience a shortage of food. Write down the food you will take for breakfast, lunch, and supper. Prepare what you can prepare at home. If you are packing meat, marinate it. Chop all veggies and fruits in advance. Bring lots of snacks too that you can munch on throughout the day.

Bring a Fishing Boat

You will need a good fishing boat if you are going boat fishing. With boat fishing, you get to enjoy a trip on the water while fishing. Boats are mostly expensive but if you need to make your trip memorable, you need to invest in one. There are several affordable aluminium plates for sale in various boat dealerships across the country. They are lightweight, durable, and perfect for a fishing excursion in a lake or a river.

If you’re going to need a bigger boat, make sure they are appropriate to use in your camping location. Make sure you also have the appropriate boat trailers (if they are too heavy to place on top of your vehicle) to carry your boat across the country.

If you cannot afford the boat you want, you can get external help in financing the purchase of the boat. There are a lot of firms and dealerships that offer several types of boat loans, such as marine financing, boat engine financing, etc.

Make Sure to Bring All the Fishing Items You Need

Apart from a good boat, you will need fishing gear and boat accessories such as lines, hooks, sinkers, plastic worms, bobbers, needle nose pliers, lures, rods, reels, fenders, life jackets, and line cutters.

The first aid kit will be useful for both camping and fishing. Camping and fishing adventures are not very prone to accidents but they can happen. Pack some band-aids, ointments, medical tapes, and a couple of bandages.

Alternative Weather Wear

You need to check the weather forecast for the day to know the kind of clothing to pack. Apart from that, you should pack alternative clothing. For instance, if the weather forecast says it will be sunny, pack some clothes for the rain as well. The weather may change and you will not want to go to a campsite where you are all uncomfortable due to the change in weather.

Don’t Forget To Bring Lighting as Well

A campsite without adequate lights to illuminate your surroundings seems like a sad and quite spooky experience. Bring enough lights (such as battery-operated lanterns, headlamps, and flashlights) for everyone to use.
